“What happened dad, please tell me,” I pleaded.
“I’ve been trying to go back to the Sacred but the subway train does not allow me to make that stop any longer,” I told him. “I have met with the Homeless Man and my Grandmother Maria as well as Sassafras and other animal and bird guides, but all I gather from them is general information that does not help me bring closure to this whole experience with the Voice and Josh,” I said.
“Then, I have asked you over our phone conversations countless times to tell me what happened. You never do, why?” I asked.
We sat across from one another on the kitchen table chairs. He had a bag of pistachios open and a beer in front of him. Bunnee sat in the middle swaying herself to put Galaxy to sleep.
“Look there is a lot that happened and a lot that continues to happen. The people and guides that have tried to aid you to bring closure to your being have been unsuccessful for the same reason that the Sacred, your family, your friends and I have been unsuccessful to aid you. Do you know why that is?”
Before I could answer he interjected, “Remember that one time we saw your Uncle Esteban in the subway station? As he was leaving and waving goodbye I said something, do you remember what I said?” he asked.
“Yes, you said: “He’s not quite ready” Meaning I was not ready, ready for what though? I never understood your comment,” I expressed trying to avoid my frustration from showing.
“You were not ready to forgive, to accept your past, present nor future, to let go of your attachments, your ego, your constant wavering of extreme emotions – your connection to the Voice,” he said as his eyes widened.
“But I did let go of all that. I am clear of all that mental and spiritual clutter, dad,” I replied.
“Son, you are now here in my home and you are asking me to tell you what happened. I will tell you exactly what happened but I need you to listen and stop interrupting by defending your ego. Just listen. Do we have an agreement?” he asked.
“Yes,” I calmly replied.
“I am going to explain everything in a summarized way. Using simple and plain words so you can clearly understand,” my father said.
