The Crow's Aura" (Page 61)

At the top rail of the metal door, stood the largest raven I've ever seen. All of the other birds fell silent and only this "elder" spoke. He opened his wings and welcomed me into the empty space the ravens surrounded. At that very moment, I understood and realized what this was. It was a gathering of my ancestors who were to welcome me back to my lineage. The main raven/elder said, "Welcome back, you've been detached for too long." A surge of clarity and confidence overwhelmed my being. I somehow remembered all of them. I knew their name and they knew mine. I walked in and sat at the center while the fence was now perfectly filled in its perimeter by ravens. As soon as I sat down, I knew I needed to meditate and absorb the sun’s rays. Then all fell black. All I heard and felt was the ravens flying over my head and they all sang together. Their wings drummed along to their voice. For that moment, I was one with The All. I was home. What felt like a long period of time to me must have really been only seconds. A minute tops.

Soon, I felt the sun’s rays on my face again and the singing and flapping of wings stopped. I opened my eyes and the ravens were all gone, except for the elder. He paced around the circular frame of the fence and as he flapped his wings he said, "You now completely remember who you are and were you come from you have no excuse. Welcome back." With those words, the Elder disappeared into the sky.
