The Crow's Aura" (Page 55)

After a long shower and freshening up my clothes, I thanked my aunt for all her help and hospitality. I promised her I was fine and that I would be back to visit soon.

As I stepped outside, my oxidized, red flaky paint 1970 Ford Mustang was now a beautiful, all black 2001 Ford Mustang.

I embraced my aunt Vero and said goodbye.

Holding on to old habits, I opened the door to the car slowly to avoid the loud squeak. There was no sound, the door open effortlessly. I stepped into my car and as I turned on the engine I noticed one other difference, the engine sounded powerful. I was slowly accepting my moment in time. It was very different at 34 years old than at 17 years old, things just seemed to work smoother at 34.

Still in awe of my “new” car I explored the inside of it. I touched the leather seats and ran my fingers through the dashboard it was all in tact.

“Sounds healthy, it is clean and chances are that this car is not going to shake when I reach 60 miles per hour,” I said to myself smiling.

My aunt’s information aided me in recollecting some of my past. At the moment I knew exactly where I needed to go – home.

“California, here I come,” I said with conviction.
