I sat with two of my ancestors. They looked to be Native American and they both had beautiful long hair. Their wrinkles were accentuated with the fire that was at the center of the circle we sat on. Their voices harmonized with the sound of the ocean. They passed me a bowl of water and I drank from it. As I lowered the bowl, I saw my reflection. It was my face at 15 years of age but in a different realm and a different lifetime. I was in a coming-of-age ceremony.
My great-great grandfather gave me the signal to go on. I stood up and thanked both my grandfathers and the fire. I turned around and thanked the ocean. I began to run towards a 13-story high wooden frame that I had previously constructed on my own. If my foundation – my infrastructure could carry my weight to the top, I could then take a dive into the bird-like shadow or the crow’s aura as I’ve come to call it and be one with it.
As I scaled up to the 13th floor, the whole building swerved side to side. I made it to the top and I now stood on the center ridge board of the rafters or the wood frame of the roof. For a second, I hesitated then I heard my great grandfather’s voice, he said, “You are safe here - you are one with the wind, the ocean, the fire and the earth. You are one with your frame,”
Then I looked forward paying no mind to the height nor the strong winds that moved the building to its core. The sky was filled with reds, magentas, yellows and blues with a hint of intense violet.
